does anyone know of the surname Gustavi
married to Giovanni Ranalli in Canzano
I am not able to locate the name in Italy
and it is Gustavi no variation noted

Dear Mario,
you are right: the surname Guastavi - from the genitive of the Latin (and English) personal name Gustavus - does not exist in present Italian phone books. The surname Gustavo (Italian translation of Gustavus) has only six entries, three in the province of Genoa. Nevertheless the catalog of National Bibliographic Service lists a book by Carlo Curradi: “Gli occhi del redentore: trama di due vite / Carlo Curradi e Giovanni Mazza Gustavi” (Gastaldi, Milan 1954) where Gustavi is added to the surname Mazza.
